I got the veggie sandwich with feta. It was pretty tasty, but I'm still hungry, so not sure I'll get it again.

had the chicken sandwich on friday. huge! the hot sauce is a must.

He gets mobbed when he parks here. I have had the Merguez and Kofta sandwiches. So good.
-
The Beef Brochette is also equally awesome. Definitely quality food coming out of Chef Samir's truck.

The kofta was out of this world good! I had it over rice. The andalusian sauce is seriously spicy and fabtastic!!! My wo-worker has the chicken cigar and she said it was great and spicy as well.

I had the royale platter a few wks ago. I have to admit, it bordered on being TOTALLY VILE. I don't get why people love this food. I suppose it is edible, but barely...I will NEVER go back. YUCK! I could puke up better lunch from last night's dinner!

So Goats, whats your favorite "street meat" then?
I enjoy it because you can actually identify the food you are eating.
-
That's a loaded question. I could answer Kwik Meal, but I don't have it enough b/c it's far. I like the 28th street trucks, which are 24/7-especially the night one. But that is niether here nor there b/c chef samir is not standard street meat. It was, to say the least, NOT my taste. I found the sauces nauseating and the meat chewy in a not good way. I tossed it after eating less than half, b/c I just didn't want to force myself to eat more of it or otherwise be tempted to feed it to my dog.

Ouch. That is true, it would be tough to classify his food as "street meat". I guess to each their own.
-
Well, I can't dispute what you experienced, but I have to add that Chef Samir's truck has become my favorite in Midtown. The food is fresh & well cooked & vegetables are handled really well.
-
Huck, I agree 100%. I love the fresh meats and his veg is awesome, I always ask for extra on the side. But we are all entitled to our own opinions.
-
I had one bad basmati royale from him, but the rest of the times I had it (4-5) were great--may have just hit him on an off day. I usually get kofta though.

I noticed in the past month or so that an original crew member has not been there...the one that adds the sauces and wraps things up. There is a new guy.
Since the other guy has not been there, the sandwiches that I order have not been the same. The new guy doesn't know the right combination and ratio of sauces to put on things. I always ask for extra spicy and used to get a nice sloppy sandwich with plenty of heat...recently, they have been kind of dry and have been missing the heat even though I still ask for it to be extra spicy and have even been adding in the work 'hot' to see if it helps.
I still get a good sandwich, but it's not the same.

Had a kefta sandwich today from Comme Ci, Comme Ca (Chef Samir's truck) parked downtown @ Old Slip
I was ridonkulously good. White sauce, the veggies and kefta, with good toasted hero roll, all came together... wanted to shout it out for those who might want to try them out.
