Heavy dishes, pasta, sometimes rice dishes but not as often as a big bowl of spaghetti with lots of cheese and red sauce... starchy, carby, horrible for me foods... for the kind of comfort after a bad day.
For like 'it's raining out and super cold and I just want something to warm me to my core' I lean towards soups/liquidier items - pho, ramen, congee, and sometimes (but not as much as the others) New England clam chowder.

This topic has come up a couple of times in the past few weeks which is why I had an answer ready. Plus I require a LOT of comfort *pats fat belly* OFTEN :)

I definitely go heavy on carbs or meat for comfort. Usually, soupy noodles, congee, HUGE burgers, steak, mac n cheese, BBQ anything.
For instant gratification, an expensive piece(s) of chocolate (like La Maison), a family sized bag of chips, or a wedge of cheese.

Oh I forgot hot pot/shabu shabu and sticky fried rice.

^^ whatever, Yvo is so skinny.
For me a soup like ramen or menudo. Chili Cheese fries, mac and cheese, bacon burgers, dumplings or sesame chicken, pastrami, ... hell, none of this crap is healthy, damn :-( now I feel bad baaahh!

I think 'comfort' in the American dictionary is meant to be 'unhealthy' ...
Haha do you 'feel bad' so now you need some 'comfort food'? If so, carry on ;)

I have been having one of those days and just when things couldn't get worse I leaned on a pole and got silver paint all over my leather jacket. I'm probably going to have some comfort drinks when I leave work but it gave me a good idea for a topic.
What are your favorite comfort foods?
