Chicken Anda kati roll at the yellow Desi food truck @ 39th/6th - crazy delish

Twice I've meant to go to the Kati Roll Co on 39th and twice I've been waylaid by the yellow Desi Food Truck strategically positioned between the corner and Kati Roll Co. I've gotten the Chicken Anda kati roll - not quite sure what's involved but it's chicken, scrambled egg and (maybe) spicy spinach. The bread is very tasty with a predominant butter flavor, the fillings are delicious. The cost is $4.50.

I also got the rice and dal - indifferent apart from some tasty pickle. The girl serving is really sweet and threw in some additional goodies on top of my dal.

As a committed carnivore, I think the aloo kati roll may have been even better than the chicken anda.

Also, it was dudes serving today.

  2. This place is awesome. Here's a mini-review I wrote somewhere else:

The Desi food truck on 39th and 6th deserves some appreciation. I got dal with rice and a chicken kati roll for $4 each. The dal might be one of the best lunch deals out there. You get a side salad, a huge plate of really good rice (similar to the XPL cart, which has my favorite halal cart rice in the city). They top it with a yellow lentil curry on one side and chana masal on the other. Both curries were up there with what you'd get in Curry Hill. Nice spice, good flavors, made you forget you were eating vegetarian.

The kati roll was pretty good too, but since they're parked two doors down from the Kati Roll Company, you might as well just go there. The bread didn't have that nice, moist oiliness to it, but the chicken had some good flavor. No one can compete with KRC though.
