Tony's aka Tony Luke's on 9th and 42nd?
-
Isn't that Shorty's?
-
Could always hop over the 55th and get a Kim-Cheesesteak from the Kimchi Taco Truck. I'm sure it's a long line, but at least they have wiz!
-
@Dave. Yes it is renamed Shorty's

Carl's is the best cheesesteak in Manhattan. Yea I said it!
34th & 3rd. They will probably deliver to you in Gramercy

Vdubjb, I had one on Sunday.

No GOATS is the best cheesesteak in manhattan!

I was looking for one in Queens and found the stand in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Northern Blvd. It was actually pretty lousy.

I think he is looking for a cheesesteak near his office for lunch? Judging by his screenname, it's in rock center. Unfortunately cheesesteak is the ONLY thing Philly trumps NYC. It's almost unbelievable.
There's nothing that compares to classics in Philly, even Carl's. But if you're looking for a good steak sammi with cheese in rock center, I can make a few suggestions. I've been working in RC for 7+ yrs.

@Username303: Yes, I work in the Rock Center area. Midtown Lunch led me to Magdy's Cart on 46th and Park (http://midtownlunch.com/2007/11/29/magdys-philly-cheese-steak-cart/), which was quite delicious!
Sorry for not putting in the specific area before, guys.
Oh, and speaking of cheese steaks: If you ever are in the UES in the East 90s, go to Fetch Bar & Grill as their cheese steak (albeit a bit expensive) is good!

@Steve: I know that Carl's would deliver to my apartment (as does 99 Miles, which I think is neck-and-neck with Carl's), but I was looking for one near the office.
Shorty's and Carl's, sadly, are too far away for delivery...
-
Save money and bring your own cheesesteak from home if none of these places will deliver.:P
Magdy's is ok. Too bad Steak Truck is no longer really around.
I would go with Carl's if distance/lunch period isn't an issue.
If you need beef, just go with TRI TIP. You are lucky they are in Rock center.

I agree with @3008. Madgy's isn't bad, but for a simple steak with cheese fix, tri tip is the best bet (but it is not like your typical cheesesteak). Another decent option is Heartland Brewery (they do To Go, right?). It's surprisingly tasty but again, not the typical cheesesteak and a bit pricey.

Hey guys,
So I've been craving a good and tasty cheesesteak for some time; I live in Gramercy and am close enough to 99 Miles to Philly (which helps my dinner cravings), but I'm not close enough (even for delivery) for any of the well-known places.
Thus...
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good cheesesteak in the Midtown area?
