Brooklyn Jury Duty Lunch!

Sarah

Waaaaaaayyyyy out of bounds for a Midtown Lunch, but I've been called to do my civic duty tomorrow in Brooklyn-- anyone got lunch suggestions around Borough Hall? I assume I won't get a *ton* of time for lunch, and you get extra gold stars if you remember that I don't eat meats!

Sahadi's totally rocks my world! Definitely worth shopping there. Also awesome on Atlantic Ave is Waterfalls Cafe - amazing Mideast food there.

Aw not entirely a fail! Nicky's has a good veggie banh mi I really like! Okay guys these are some amazing options for me. Now I'm kind of hoping I get on a jury. Something with lots of time to eat! Thanks!!!

When in doubt... there's a five guys right down the block from the court house.... mmmmmm..... five guys fries....

Sarah, don't get the spring rolls at Nicky's, they suck (plus they have shrimp)

  6. Skip Nicky's. Walk the extra 3 blocks to Hancos on Bergen off the corner of Smith. It is a far superior Vietnamese sandwich shop.

Also, Chip Shop on Atlantic btw. Clinton and Henry for your english pub classics and good beer.

Teresa's on Montague for solid pierogi and blintes.

My Little Pizzeria on Court and State for an excellent slice. Get the fresh mozzarella "supreme" slice.

I won't get into the Nicky's VS Hancos thing as Sarah is a veggie and those arguments are irrelevant in this case. Chip Shop is delicious!!!! But know that the fish is fried in the same grease as your fries and cheese pizza (fried cheese pizza is heavenly) In case that matters.

Report back: I went to Vegetarian Ginger and it was DELICIOUS and cheap!!! Thanks for the tip StevenP! I browsed at Sahadis but I didn't get to buy anything b/c Bank of America was holding one of my deposits hostage. I also discovered *this* awesome place (not food)

I didn't get called in to even be questioned all day... Just sat and read and listened to the old ladies behind me talk about the waterfall at Aquavit and 'poor russians' and young people with dogs.

lunch was definitely the highlight of my day

I went to some Mexican joint on Smith Street, that was very Americana, i.e., flour tortillas, expensive, and not a lot of taste. But the cup a joe was delicious. Anyway, wouldn't recommend. I actually got dismissed (for the rest of the day and for the next 8 years!!! lucky me) so I had a lot more time for lunch. You can file this under "anecdotal but totally unhelpful."
