Broadhurst Theater (dinner)

Yvo

I just went to the map and apparently, nothing good is near Broadhurst theater (44th btw 7th and 8th) unless Times Square Hot Bagel is amazing. Any suggestions? Pre or post theater dining... Hamlet is 3 hours long, so I'm hoping to grab a nibble at least beforehand. Thanks for any suggestions.

Aoki (sushi) 48th & Bway for sushi.
    Margon (Cuban/Dominican) 46th & 7th
    Minar is right near Margon.
    Sapporo 49th & 7th

That's a rough one, because the area goes from either really pricey to divey. There's Smith's bar

For a drink and some damn good fries and other bar food.

    Piece of Chicken

    (between 8th Ave & 9th Ave)
will get you a quick bite and you can always take it over to Rudy's to eat.. or just eat it as you walk. It is finger food. There are pizza slice joints near there, nothing spectacular but it will do the trick. In fact Lazzara's is near there:
    617 9th Avenue between 43rd and 44th streets

Thanks! I'm not sure yet how much time we'll have before we need to get over there, so this is a great range of selections. :)

    Virgils for BBQ on 44th btw 6th & 7th.

If you want something fast, Biryani Cart on 46th and 6th :)

Oh and people are gonna call me out for this one, but I have to :)

    Ipanema @ 13 W.46th St

Or if you head to 9th Ave., there's Room Service for Thai, Five Napkin Burger for burgers (duh), and Nizza for Italian.

Ooh, some more good points... I am lazy and didn't want to walk too far. Hahaha. But Five Napkin Burger might be a good choice since I introduced my friend to Five Guys... good comparison buddy. :)

I loved St Andrews...men wearing skirts..how bad could it be.

    Five Napkin is overrated

I would do Sapporo or Hagi right next door (or down)(http://www.yelp.com/biz/sake-bar-hagi-new-york). Izakayas are the best because you can order how much food you want exactly. Good drinks and a social atmosphere really helps too.

Thanks guys! If it isn't crowded, I might try to hit up Xie Xie (it's right there, too, right?) for some eye candy for my buddy. lol. I can't imagine he will be too happy when he finds out we're watching Hamlet.

Tips on Xie Xie, if you like pork with a sweet bbq flavor -go with that one. I liked it but the winner for me surprisingly was the beef. It reminded me of the Uber-tender meat you get in a stew you cook for 10 hours, in a nice gravy made of the drippings. Now that I've raised it up so much, you'll probably not like it as much. Isn't that the way it always goes? :-D

It might be somewhat touristy, but Becco is pretty solid. The $25 pasta deal is a steal if you can handle the carb overload (might not be wise pre-theater... you'd pass out within the first hour).

Riposo 46 is also pretty decent for a nosh. Their flat breads pair well with the wines.
