I work downtown now so I don't have as many opportunities to go here than when I worked in rock center. A few weeks ago I stopped by for an after-drinks ballast of kati rolls. They were as good as I remembered, maybe a bit less greasy than usual, but definitely not as hot(spicy) as I liked cause this guy never saw me and was probably a bit more cautious with the heat than I liked. It did taste damn good.
Maybe it depends on the time of day, or maybe they should just stick to Kati rolls (I've *never* had the biryani there).

For sure quality went down. I went a few months ago, also had only three or four pieces of chicken with rice (biryani). Yet, there is a crowd around the cart. What gives.

i have to say i went there for the first time in a while a month or so ago and was really disappointed by the amount of chicken they gave me. id say the quality has definitely slipped.

Look, brklyn46 and viktor, you guys went ONCE and are already slandering them. I'm not sure how going dozens of times and having an amazing experience and then going once and having a not-so-great one qualifies as them going downhill. I also don't see the justification in slandering them after one bad visit. They serve hundreds of meals a day and occasionally will get one wrong. People make mistakes. Having said that, their chicken biryani has NEVER been a meat filled dish. Hell, the dish itself is rice first meat second. I encourage everyone to be less reactionary with these types of things because small businesses depend on word of mouth, and this can really hurt them if people don't actually think your comments through like they should.

As someone who has gone to the Biryani cart countless times: I haven't been in a few months and just went back Monday. It wasn't nearly as good as it used to be. I noticed there was a new guy manning the kati rolls but I don't know if that would have anything to do with it. Formz, I get what you're saying about hurting small businesses, but I think the motive here is to have them step up their game again, not necessarily to hurt their business (and, from the look of the line, their business has not been dealt a decisive blow from the bad comments).

Formaz-- I understand where you are coming from, but the Biryani cart has forever been a destination, and as you can see, many have had similar experiences to the one I just described. About the chicken, you really think less then a palm full is acceptable? Seriously. I agree with Jill's comment, I want to Biryiani cart to be fabulous-- I just wish they wouldn't rest on their laurels and go soft, which to me, it seems like they have.

im not slandering them im telling it like it is. i remember getting more chicken than before, plain and simple. im willing to cut people slack and i didnt say that id never go back, but it was a noticeable difference, and thus, disappointing.

" many have had similar experiences to the one I just described."
I don't think 4 people is many. LOL

Don't get biryani from the Biryani Cart. I only made that mistake once, then I went back to the kati rolls, which have never disappointed me.
-
I had a bad experience there last week - the kati rolls were stone cold and not tasty. But the week before I got the chicken curry plate and it was excellent. I think they're just uneven.

The last three visits to this cart for biryani has been disappointing over the span of about one year. Some problems I found (may not be all in one visit): lack of chicken, wet/ mushy rice, missing egg, and lack of ordering system/ line. There are also complaints from previous posts in this site.
-
Formz: you really think that everyone getting a not-so-great meal at Biryani - even among ML.com readers - are going to post about it? LOL, indeed.
-
@Formz - there was a similiar chain a few weeks ago about the BC going downhill. This is not the first complaint post.
I have been going often for the last 2 years. Their Kati rolls are still quite good, but lately they have layed off the spice, even when requested.
I also order the biryani and chicken tika masala. I would get each dish at least once a month. I think that would make me a regular....I'd say the quality/taste has gone down. I ask for very spicy and barely get anything, if not bland. The white sauce I find very bland now. And the dish sizes did feel lighter.
I'm with everyone else, I went them to be on their game, not go out of business.

I had the MOST DISAPPOINTING lunch there today. As a frequent reader of this site, I had heard the quality was going down. But, I was out running errands for my boss, realized I hadn't eaten all day and wanted something filling so I thought to give them a try, I hadn't eaten there in almost a year. I normally go to the Trini Paki cart on 43rd, and really wish I had. I ordered the extra spicy chicken biryani. What a freaking joke. Literally, I received 4 small pieces of chicken, one which was inedible because it was only bone, so let's say three. Overcooked, under seasoned rice, with one sad looking leaf of lettuce. The white sauce tasted like mayo, probably was, and as for spicy, seriously? My 85 year old gma likes it spicier than that! They are seriously off their game. STAY AWAY
