Best Udon Noodles

Either from a deli or from a japanese lunch place... I work in Midtown West (52+6th) and need a place where I can grab these noodles and go back to my desk. I've got an obsession with these noodles and can eat them year round. Any suggestions?

Perhaps that would help. Also try searching for udon in the search box above...

  2. You can also try Teriyaki Boy on 48th & 7th

Teriyaki Boy, Duke on 51st (6th and 7th), 53rd Deli on 53rd (6th and 7th), Pranzo also has it on 50th. Tried it at all the places, all a lil different.

Some people in my job swear by Manhatten Gourmet on 6th between 55th & 56th.

    Udon West

I used to love Sam's Noodle on Third Avenue in the early 30's or late 20's streets - but I heard it went downhill. I used to love the "little bit of everything" noodle soup. Huge bowl and the noodles were thick and tasty. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Fukin' A, now we have chiffonade registering?!? Just to add to the stupidity that is the Doc Chock/Fred multiple personality disorder.

Word of warning for anyone who doesn't get a real lunch break (like me) looking to try Onya: Udon is not available for take-out, at least currently. Couldn't figure out if there are plans to change that.

They do have a few sushi options, some tempura items, and donburi. I opted for the beef donburi. $4.90 for what constitutes a large snack (for those who eats-a-lot like me). It's good enough to satisfy the occasional donburi craving.

And Mama, lay off Fred. I make sure the world is still going to continue by checking every Tuesday to see if Fred has in fact declared someone to be a freak, for the week (the auxiliary method has been to make sure you haven't given up drinking).
