Best Sandwich

I am looking for a sandwich place to take my girlfriend. I work on Broadway between 36th and 37th so something within a few blocks of there would be best. I don't want to go to Pret or some crap like that. Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Get the lomito here. Seriously. It is one of the best sandwiches ever! And it's reasonably priced! And it's f'ing huge.

  2. Thanks Goats, that seems like a mess that I may have to try as a solo operation.

I guess I should have stated the question in a better way. I guess I'm looking for more of a best lunch date place that fits the ML platform (under $10 and the ability to sit and eat in under an hour) if there is even a place like that in Midtown. My plan right now is to head to Pure Thai as of right now but that involves getting on the subway so I'm wondering if there is anything closer (36th and Broadway vacinity).

I wouldn't call a sandwich the best date food.

  4. You can easily get in and out of Food Gallery 32 in an hour (I work a block over on Broadway and 35th and have done it many times).

If you get to Szechuan Gourmet before noon (just before noon) you can do the same.

Both spots have awesome deals for under $10

  5. If you are willing to venture all the way up to Pure Thai, you might as well stop at City Sandwich (45th and 9th). All sandwiches are delicious, good sized, and under 10 dollars (except maybe 1)

  6. Cheese, it was her idea to just grab sandwiches so I figured I would throw it out to the ML crowd to gain further insight.

Is City Sandwich better than Pure Thai? I guess that's a tough question because it depends on what one is feeling that day.

    ooooooo....a hot date!

I think a nice date, if the weather cooperates, would be to take her to Bryant Park and enjoy wichcraft sandwiches and Lily Obrien chocolates or hot chocolate al fresco. It is only a few minutes to walk there from your office.

  8. I guess you're not planning on getting lucky if all you are taking her out for is a sandwich!
Anyhow, I don't know when your date is, but if it happens to be on Tues, Weds, or Thurs, I would definitely recommend getting any of the Mediterranean sandwiches from the Comme Ci Comme Ca truck parked around the corner from you (38th & B'Way). They are all amazingly superb. Just be careful as your date may run away with Chef Samir!

  9. Funny that the ad I see between the question and the comments is for BJs. Do you also want a discreet unisex bathroom area as well?

  10. Definitely would not say that City Sand is better than Pure Thai, but this thread was looking for a sandwich. I think they are both 2 great options in the 9th ave stretch

  11. Also along 9th around 39th is Sandwich Planet-unbelievably huge, delicious sandwiches with Sullivan Street Bakery Bread. The fries are also great!
