Best Jamaican Food Downtown

Cosilicious

Hey MLers! I have in front of me right now a lunch combo platter (chicken stew, rice and peas, rock cake) from Golden Krust. I am also enjoying a refreshing Ting. It is my first try with this food and I love it. So good!

But my question is: is there better Jamaican food to be found in the financial district? Preferably not from a cart (due to cart-avoiding coworkers.) Tanks!

Tell them to stop being little babies and go to Veronica's Kitchen. It's on Front st near the old Goldman office (180 Maiden Lane)

That is very close to us. Thanks for the reminder. What do you recommend?

Their jerk chicken is awesome, as are the ox tails (they sell out fast). I'd probably skip the mac and cheese (a bit bland), but def go for the collard greens and callaloo if they're available.

Funny enough, my post today is about the 2nd time I went to Veronica's... I really loved the oxtails when I went

@Yvo, let me know next time you go. Chris, thanks! I just came back from Veronica's and I had the jerk chicken. I could not resist the mac and cheese, and the candied yams as sides. I am also enjoying the homemade ginger beer. I'll try the collard greens and callaloo next time. and they have a new menu: BBQ ribs on Wednesdays and Fridays!

I could not get coworkers to try the cart... oh well, more for me!

PS My only complaint - why do they only give the one small napkin? This stuff is messy (but good)

Cosi... I'll go with you on Friday if you want... I've been trying to get their BBQ beef ribs since I saw them in May... but I think we gotta go really early since these places run out of their food fast!

Cosilicious - funny stuff, was looking for something and stumbled across the fact that Veronica's was once a finalist for the Vendy's
