There are Red Sox bars scattered around NYC...
Supposedly there's this huge bar in the Village whose name totally escapes me but it "doesn't play favorites" and plays every sports game around the bar on any given night. Seems like it'd be a madhouse... I don't remember the name though, sorry. -
I like to watch the "big" game in my apt with $1.25 Tall Boys

YVO, can you be referring to Off the Wagon?
BenBen, good point, especially with this economy.

LWL, unfortunately your only choice is going to be one of those touristy sport bar type places, as that's the only responses you're going to get are from either non-pro's who don't know where the good bars are or pro's who are territorial about their haunts.
I heard TGIFridays and H00TERS are great places to go see a game!

As a redskins fan, I go to Red Sky Bar (NY's home of the Skins) on 29th between Park and Madison when the NFL is in season...The bar is right around the corner from where I live, but strangely, I only found it 4 yrs after I moved in.

No, it's a big place with a billion beers on tap. The name is plural like girly bars and strip joints are... Hmm...

Sorry I know that is not helpful but I texted the person who'd recommended it to me last time I was looking for somewhere to watch the game, and am waiting to hear back... will update when I know!

Standings! http://www.standingsbar.com/ I've never been nor have I actually seen it for some strange reason, but I've heard it's good.

As a Liverpool Fan...i watched Barcelona hammer Man u in the champions league final 2-0 @ my Local pub The Crow 'twas a night of much happyness.
And now Ronaldo has gone to Madrid.
And Liv Tyler is single.
Life is good.

dukes (2 locations) half price wings (usually pretty good) and $1 bud light drafts during all yankees and mets games
-
Standings does play favorites. Its a Red Sox bar, grr.
-
Sorry! Is it nice at least?
-
Great beer selection, but pretty small so it can get packed quickly

So with the Subway series upon us tonight and if you aren't going to the game, what sports bar do you hit?
When the Yanks are playing the Mets or Sox, I like to hit a non-sports bar like White Horse Tavern on Hudson for their unspectacular but tasty menu of burgers and other pub grub and White Horse Ale. I avoid a huge crowd and can celebrate or commiserate with my buddies in peace. If it's a game I don't really care about, like Lakers-Magic last night, any sports bar with enough TVs will do.
Just curious, if you root for a non-NY team in any sport (Eagles/Phillies/Dodgers/Steelers/Vikings/Orioles/Big Ten football/SEC football/Man U/Barcelona) etc., where do you go and root with your fellow fans?
