Jersey isn't that bad.

I also commute from NJ. On the way to work, I stop by Cafe Zaiya and pick up a nice warm yakimochi and a fried fish sandwich which takes care of my breakfast and lunch...for little more than $5. =)

No, Jersey isn't bad at all. In fact, I love where I live. It's the commute that I hate like poison.

Downtown JC commuting on the PATH isn't bad....and we have Ibby's and the Taqueria....I call that a win. No bagels to my knowledge though.

Shush you angry angry Bourdain.
I loved that he made fun of Ripert on TopChef. LOL.

the guy that makes the bagels also asks you if the amount of cc is ok. if not, he will add more or take some away. the Olive CC is my fav.

For 20 years I lived on the East Side (upper and lower) and for 20 years I grabbed bagels at Ess-a on my way to work. Now I live in New Jersey. What used to be a pleasant commute now is a ghastly bus ride followed by a death march through Times Square to my office. Thank god I found Blue Flower (thanks to ML). The bagels are awesome. Fresh baked every morning- chewey inside with a hint of a crust outside. They're not in the league of Ess-A (or even Murray's or H&H) but anywhere else in the country, these would be the best bagels in town. The cream cheeses are better than average- if you're lucky enough to get a scoop from the top of the bin, you'll get a lot more lox (or chives, or whatever). The guy who works the counter is fast and genial. A great find.
