Ali Baba Turkish Cusine---34th btwn 2nd-3rd--slightly out of bounds but well worth the money...

Goats

I hit this haven of turkish meats last night for my birthday, but I am posting b/c they actually have a lunch special--10.95 for an appetizer plus an entre! I know it's .95 over (w/o tax if you get takeout) and it's slightly out of bounds, but their grilled meats were pretty amazing! Great falafal and pickled hot salad as well...and all items were reasonably priced. I actually got the mixed grill for dinner $21, with a falafal and hot pickled salad appetizer. All were pretty amazing! I have leftovers, which I am NOT sharing with Max, my pooch.I think my g/f may be gracious enough to give me her leftovers as well--but I'm not banking on it yet. I'd totally reccomend this place--reasonably cheap (especially the lunch specials) and darn good. Service can be a little slow but I didn't mind

this has been my go-to turkish place for 5 years now. food delivers very well. they have keep up the quality all these years. some of the best falafel in the city.

the Mediterranean salad with fresh feta, tomatoes, cabbage and grilled chicken is my favorite dish.

Yvo, does <3 mean hate? Or Love?

I wish I was getting some type of comp for raving about their food...sadly, I was only trying to add another slightly out of bounds option for 34th streeters...I am definitley going to hit up a lunch special next week!

It's a heart, turn your head to the right. It's love! I <3 their taramasalata... drool...

Well, after today's smash and bash on 34th & 8th, I think the area deserves some love, so good for you... that area is so unloved.

Ah---Turkish Kitchen has been on my to try list for years. I am going to do their sunday brunch soon! But i will still show the love to Ali Baba! We need to keep these great meat havens in business!

Yvo, please dont compare 8th Avenue with 3rd Avenue. we may have more college frat boys on the east side, but the streets are much cleaner.

Unless I am getting sick in front of McCormacks----then not so much....sunday night. JEts Game. Tailgate hangover...ugh......

Sorry Steve I actually didn't even read the cross-avenue for this post. Midtown is all the damn same to me honestly. I would imagine if I worked at 34th and 8th, and I wanted something yummy to eat, walking 5 avenues would not stop me.

...it being 5 degrees, however, just might.
