After eating from the 53rd & 6th cart (Famous Night or Cool Day one)...

T.C.

...for over a year, I don't know if I can eat it as often anymore. I eat it about once a week to two weeks.

I had the Cool Day cart for lunch today. I think it's cool because you get the same food (my opinion) as the Famous Night cart and at $5 instead of $6 with their delicious white sauce and hot sauce. That beats the pants out of any recession special (4.45 at Gray's or any of those pricey, puny sandwiches out there).

I used to really enjoy devouring a whole plate of Mix w. Rice (their chicken and lamb combo), sometimes eating it twice a week for lunch, and twice a month at the night cart, but now I can barely stand eating all of the it in one sitting (I still polish the whole plate off. I can't waste food.) I tried to mixed things up with XPL and other street carts nearby but nothing seems to make me want to jump back on that 53rd & 6th bandwagon fully. No, I don't eat chicken/lamb w. rice everyday. That would be absurd. Perhaps there are too many culinary delights lingering the streets of Midtown these days? Variety is the spice of life. What are your thoughts? I know there are plenty of people who have eaten it longer than I have. Have you started getting sick of it and seeked comfort elsewhere?

i have totally gone to kati roll wasted with no cash and had to spend a minimum 20$ on my credit card...20$ worth of kati roll...FML.

LOL on the FML. Those have become such popular reads these days.

$20 worth of kati roll? Hell no. Live like a king off the dollar menus. McD's takes credit cards. Haha.

the only dollar menus i see in manhattan consist of apple pie and cookies...thats not food.

It depends on the McD's in the city. You have to go to the ghettoey ones to get the true dollar menu items.
There's one on broadway that still has dollar 4-piece nuggets. Get like 5 orders of that and you be saving a bundle compared to the arm-and-leg they want for their 20 pieces box. Haha. There's also their regular hamburger taht should be a dollar but nuggets are better. lol.

There are burger kings that still sell the whopper jrs. for a buck too. Just gotta find them. Ugh. That's why I prefer fast food outside the city. I don't have to search everywhere to eat like a king off the real dollar menu.

Samwich, I've missed my busride (right across from Biryani cart) home waiting for the kati rolls, and had to take a cab home instead. I hate that.

T.C. it's worth it. We aren't talking your typical gyro on a pita. Not sure what kind of bread it is, I assume it's some sort of rice flour or something, or if it's wheat(white) flour, then they must add a ton of butter to make it light/flaky/crispy. It's worth having at least once. But be warned, You'll probably get hooked, especially if you like indian food or spicy food in general.

Yea I like spicy indian food actually and the buttery goodness could probably be ghee/ clarified butter. lol.
These days I haven't been too impressed by indian meat entrees though. I tend to enjoy the vegetarian dishes more like saag or palak paneer, aloo methi, and chaats. I also like naan so if the kati rolls are that type of bread, then I'll prob be sold. Maybe not so on the meat on it though. I'm not a vegetarian but I want good seasoning on meat. Haha.

I do think the the new Maoz Falafel (the city's best tasting falafel) will have an impact on Midtown, especially since Olympic Pita is now a mystery....

  11. T.C.

I never had Maoz. I don't know about them being the best tasting falafel in the city. I think Crisp is alright. Taim is good. I'm going to hit up Azuri Cafe when I get a chance.

taim was on challenge last night...its awfully sad when bobby flay wins...its liek these peopel have perfected their recipe for years and years and started their own business but then bobby flay comes makes his recipe in 1 day and beats them...what a doosh bag

  13. T.C.

Yea I'm surprised. Taim is good. I gotta try Azuri and see if they're betetr.
