I love both the night and day carts, however I cannot and refuse to eat at the same place all the time. Its no different than sticking to subway or mcdonalds every day. BOOORING. Branch out, eat other foods. Nothing (aside from leaving work) can make me happier during the work day than trying a new place or cart.

I do try new carts. My point is after a while, I want their mix w. rice less and less since there's so many options. Right now, it's about once every 1-2 weeks but soon it'll be every 1-2 months. Haha. That's withstanding the test of time in my book then.

a sandwich every now and then seems to cure the "sick of Chicken and Rice cart" blues
-
im totally sick of it...it was 3/4 of my dinner throughout college and now i feel disgusting if i eat it before sun down and not drunk....not sure how peopel eat it for lunch i would be slapping myself to stay out of food coma!
if you venture out there after 7 i would totaly reccomend 49th and 6th...

I'm thinking I should just stay away from the rice for a very long time. Instead, I'll get their lamb on pita with white sauce and hot sauce. It's just as good and I won't feel like I have to kill a whole plate anymore.
Lamb on pita *drools* Now that's a sandwich! ;P
I haven't ordered one for lunch in a long time but isn't it $3 instead of $4 during the night hours? Haha. -
I've been doing the lamb-on-pita thing ("gyro"--pronounce it however you'd like) more often than rice plates from the carts. The two carts I pass by most often are both evil Rafiqis carts, but their lamb is always tasty and reliable. It's only about once every 2 weeks or so for me, though.
-
I def. won't be ordering it from Rafiqi's. Haha.

I usually just do the combo over salad with a few falafel instead of rice. I could eat it every meal, but I'm usually too busy to go out (and work pays for lunch from cucina and mangia).
That said, if you're looking to mix it up, I highly recommend the lamb kati rolls from Biryani Cart on 46th and 6th.
-
I'll hit up the kati rolls sometime. I don't know if it's worth the 2 for $6? Especially if the lamb with pita is still $3? I have to go back and confirm the pita price next time. But if it's $3 during lunch at the day cart, I'd rather eat 2 pitas (1 chicken and 1 lamb) than 2 kati rolls. HAHA.

I have to hit up Carnegie John's more often. And give the Dragon another chance with his platter.
Maybe it's finally come to it...I'm seriously liking tzatziki more than halal white sauce. lol.

There was that Happy well being cart that was a nice diversion until it went MIA.

moderation is how it's gotta be done
this leads me to my next discussion. wonder if it'll take off
-
There's no moderation in this society driven by addiction and obesity. LOL. Try telling moderation to the fast food and beverage industries. lol.
I think what we really need is WAY WAY WAY TOO MANY choices (and preferably cheap eats factor) to make it impossible for you to get sick or stuck on one thing. The bulgogi would've helped. An old school chinatown style cart in Midtown would've definitely made it on my weekly rotation. Haha.

...for over a year, I don't know if I can eat it as often anymore. I eat it about once a week to two weeks.
I had the Cool Day cart for lunch today. I think it's cool because you get the same food (my opinion) as the Famous Night cart and at $5 instead of $6 with their delicious white sauce and hot sauce. That beats the pants out of any recession special (4.45 at Gray's or any of those pricey, puny sandwiches out there).
I used to really enjoy devouring a whole plate of Mix w. Rice (their chicken and lamb combo), sometimes eating it twice a week for lunch, and twice a month at the night cart, but now I can barely stand eating all of the it in one sitting (I still polish the whole plate off. I can't waste food.) I tried to mixed things up with XPL and other street carts nearby but nothing seems to make me want to jump back on that 53rd & 6th bandwagon fully. No, I don't eat chicken/lamb w. rice everyday. That would be absurd. Perhaps there are too many culinary delights lingering the streets of Midtown these days? Variety is the spice of life. What are your thoughts? I know there are plenty of people who have eaten it longer than I have. Have you started getting sick of it and seeked comfort elsewhere?
