I doubt this is food poisoning. The couple times I've gotten something bad I can't move for 2 days.
Usual stomach grumbling and satisfying poops are to be expected.
Are you sure you aren't lactarded?

We eat there very often and never had any issues, and neither of us experienced this sort of pain before...and it was legit pain dude.
And we both live for cheese, so that rules out being intollerant.
What else could it be then?

Lead paint in the workplace? Homeless person jabbed you both with a dirty needle? Five minutes is awfully quick for food poisoning onset.

To my knowledge, I've never had food poisoning before, so I have no idea what's even supposed to happen or when.
It's weird that it happened to both of us though, and wanted to know if anyone else ate there today.

I can honestly say the "Fried Chicken" part of the name piqued my interest the first time I saw the place, but I've yet to pull the trigger. Your post isn't making that likely to occur in the near future.
I might even go to Melt Shop before them now.

Milkman - you both work together, perhaps someone in the office passed you both a bug. That's more likely.
In terms of food poisoning, it depends on your system. I can have it happen quickly but other people say it's impossible. Depends on your digestive tract, how fast things move, etc. If you're OK now, though, then there's no reason to worry about it.

IT wouldn't happen in 5 minutes. No way. I'm a food poisoning pro. If, by some wierd miracle of science, it were to happen in 5 minutes, it would be out the mouth--not the toushe.
TMi tmi....

Yvo, I suppose that's possible...I have a fast system, so who knows. I'm feeling fine now, so whatever wasn't welcome before is now long gone.
And 5 minutes might have been a bad estimate. The food spot is on 54th and Lex, and it didn't hit us until we were at 55th and 8th (we were checking out a new potential sports bar to watch games). And obviously it takes longer than 5 minutes to walk from Lex to 8th (especially in this heat).

The acids in tomato sauce make food poisoning unlikely. Even the health department lets them keep pies at room temps because bacteria cant grow easily on it.

When you develop symptoms depends on the exact cause of the food poisoning. The most common types of food poisoning generally cause symptoms within 2 - 6 hours of eating the food, but it *can* hit within 15 minutes. You can dehydrate, so fluids are important; Imodium as prescribed on the box, and not more, can help.
Food poisoning often occurs from eating or drinking:
- Any food prepared by someone who did not wash their hands properly
- Any food prepared using unclean cooking utensils, cutting boards, or other tools
- Dairy products or food containing mayonnaise (such as coleslaw or potato salad) that have been out of the refrigerator too long
- Frozen or refrigerated foods that are not stored at the proper temperature or are not reheated properly
- Raw fish or oysters
- Raw fruits or vegetables that have not been washed well
- Raw vegetable or fruit juices and dairy
- Undercooked meats or eggs
- Water from a well or stream, or city or town water that has not been treatedMost people fully recover from the most common types of food poisoning within 12 - 48 hours.
Dehydration is the most common complication. This can occur from any of the causes of food poisoning.
Less common but much more serious complications depend on the bacteria that is causing the food poisoning. These may include arthritis, bleeding problems, kidney problems, damage to the nervous system, and swelling or irritation in the tissue around the heart.
Call for an IMMEDIATE appointment with your health care provider if you have:
- Blood or pus in your stools
- Black stools
- Stomach pain that does not go away after a bowel movement
- Symptoms of dehydration (thirst, dizziness, light-headedness)
- Diarrhea with a fever above 101°F (100.4°F in children)
- Recently traveled to a foreign country and developed diarrheaAlso call your doctor if:
- The diarrhea gets worse or does not get better in 2 days for an infant or child, or 5 days for adults
- A child over 3 months old has been vomiting for more than 12 hours; in younger babies, call as soon as vomiting or diarrhea beginsGo to the emergency room or call your local emergency number, such as 911, if:
- Bleeding is excessive or your stools are maroon or black
- You may have poisoning from mushrooms, fish, or botulism
- Your heart is racing, pounding, or skipping -
I appreciate all the info bltz...neither my colleague nor I experienced anything after those first initial stomach pains/"drop-offs", so my guess is that it wasn't actual poisoning, but rather, some sort of "no-thanks" from the stomach. It was just odd that it happened to us both at the same time after we ate the same meal.
Anyhoo, thanks to everyone for caring and sharing :)

i felt a bit sick yesterday after eating at 2 bros yesterday on 6th and 25th. everything was fine until i got to the train and then i started feeling a desperate need to go to the bathroom... i made it home a half hour of torture after all that started. it's nothing i haven't felt before from food, always attributed it to indigestion and i never got it before from this place either. actually normally when i feel like this it was from home cooked food from an elderly relative. i would have probably had no problem if i felt it at work either cause then i would have just used to bathroom here but because i was on the train i just felt worse and worse.
hope there isnt anything wrong with an ingredient? i remember when i was in spain they suspected e.coli from a tomato in spain got someone sick when it was actually from a cucumber from germany. or it could have been me not washing my hands correctly or something about the bag they put it in or how they piled the pizzas on top of one another... who knows, im fine now

Is this the place on the same block as GoodBurger? If it is, I've eaten there a lot of times and never had an issue. I actually like the pizza.

So me and my colleague went over to our regular go-to cheap pizza spot, called "54 Lex Fried Chicken and Pizza." They're special is 2 slices and a can of soda for $5 (plus tax). So today, we both got the special and ate it up quick, as we always do. About 5 minutes after walking down there street, I started to feel some stomach pains. My colleague felt the same pains a few minutes afterwards. And within a few minutes after that, we both were losing lots of weight on the toilets, if you know what I mean. Not fun at all. The thing is, we got our slices from completely different pies, so I think their entire sauce pot, or maybe their cheese bin has gone bad. Did anyone else eat there today and experience this? Maybe sometime in the past? I also noticed their DOH Grade is still pending...
