I had Steak Truck today. Wow, third time this week eating street-meats for lunch... I must really need it.

I had their chicken and rice platter. They had a decent line going and it was already passed 1pm. Lotta cheesesteaks and chicken and rice being ordered so the dude was mad busy. Poor dude in front of me even got hit when he was spraying whtie sauce. I started wanting a cheesesteak but decided to just stick with what I originally wanted for lunch - more street meats.

For $5, they serve up a decent platter (not a huge one though) but I honestly can't say they didn't lose a step today. Their grilled chicken (least the parts that weren't overly burnt/charcoal-dried out) was nice. Much better than the usual shreds or chunks too. On a side note, I tried the other Sammy's Halal in Jackson Heights on Tuesday and they serve up the weiredest chunks of chicken I've ever eaten (Pinkish and almost looked like silly putty in piles). I think the original Sammy's is the one with Maida on it's sign, that is the more popolar one in the corner but decided to give their secondary a chance to shine. Nothing too awesome about their combo but good green sauce and flavors.

Okay, back to Steak Truck:
Good grilled chicken
Plain yellow rice, plain white sauce and weak hot sauce (I even asked for extra this time but still no heat)
The chickpeas didn't add any flavor to the plate
And what happened to their greens? They now serve standard lettuce and tomatoes. I miss their leafy greens with craisins and almonds. I guess they had to cut back on costs? Sorry but I won't be waiting on a line for 15 mins to get a platter next time then. I would like to try your cheesesteak though!

He left around 1:15pm, as I waited for my food with the Biryani lunch crowd. Zach is too recognizable now. Anyone can spot him as the Midtown Lunch founder now.

Yea, I definitely need them to spicy it up next time.

Darn, I just missed Zach at Biryani Cart?!

I just went there for the chapli kebab. It's very interseting. I had them spice it like the buradi roll (mouth is pleasently on fire).

I spotted Zach today at Biryani Cart. I was wondering what he bought but he had a bag of two containers while talking to a lovely asian woman. Oh well, onto ordering my lunch...

I decided to hit Biryani up for lunch since I never had their chicken tikka masala before and my friend wanted to try their vegetarian. I'm a combo person so I ordered the Combo Kebab platter - chicken tikka & chapli kebab over rice. My friend ended up with the Aloo Gobi Kati Rolls, which were decent and spicy for her. I guess I better try it next time. I've had their Spicy Buradi and it wasn't very spicy for me. Their combo kebab platter isn't spicy either.
The chicken and basmati rice were nice. The chapli was only okay to me. The tiny piece of pickle was a nice touch. Maybe next time I should only get the chicken tikka marsala and ask them to spicy it up for me/ melt my face off. I do like the indian flavors in it BUT I like the Sandwich Land's Chicken& Lamb combo more. Even Aamir's Chicken & Lamb combo would be higher on my list.

Definitiely worth going back to try their other items. $6 rice platters and $6 for 2 kati rolls is a good deal!
