Yeah, I'd bet the chicken parm is as bad as the veal parm. I think I'm over ravioli fair forver now. I will venture back for a sam's falafal though.

Yeah I tried it after reading about it here.. the meatball sandwich was decent but I also tasted the chicken parm and was not really into it.

At least I now have a mental map of the downtown area that will hopefully be burned in my mind forever. And my dog eats (gets a taste) of pretty much whatever we eat, so she is VERY VERY spoiled and greedy...as you can see from my profile photo...The veal was nothing to write home about. She much prefers hot dogs, pretzels and filet mignon. LOL

Yeah, I am kicking myself for taking off yesterday rather than today---as the food fair would have been way cooler...but hindsights 20/20, and I would have continued to have dreams of a ravioli fair that is from yesteryear...

next to 1 Chase Plaza, on Nassau Street :P but all good, yesterday was a nice day for a walk. And your dog made out like a bandit, he got to eat veal. My dog could only be so lucky.

Today at 1 Chase Plaza is that Dine Around Downtown thing that Daniel mentioned, too, if you're back in the 'hood

LOL I didn't have a specific cross street on Nassau, and doing some further internet research turned up some other intersections I might try...and of course, I'm too stubborn to call the flagship restaurant since there's no fun in that :-) I did enjoy my walk---even if the food was disappointing.

After an hr. (literally) of walking and rewalking every street in the downtown Wall St area, I finally found Ravioli Fair at noon yesterday (liberty and nassau I think). I almost wish I didn't. The old glory is gone---or maybe I was just younger and poorer and totally had no basis of what good food was...the 4 and 5 dollar sandwiches are now 7 bucks...SO not worth it as you could get the same at any generic deli for the most part.

For 14 dollars (7 each), I got their veal Parm sub and their italian sub. The veal parm was below avg--skimpy, not a lot of cheese, and the veal was stringy-- like dry pot roast. Bluck. I gave a lot of it to my dog.

The italian was standard, but really skimpy. Even moreso than I remembered. No sundried tomatoes, which I recalled being a staple on it. I still have half for lunch today. If it was photoworthy, I would have procured a camera (since I don't have a good one), but this was certainly not photoworthy. I will not be going back anytime soon....

I haven't been in 10 years, literally, since I graduated from law school. I used to walk down after my 9 or 10 am class and grab some giant subs from their cart (italian, tuna, and veal parm were my staples). They were very long sandwiches, but not necessarily stuffed to the brim. But for $5 each, how coulud you complain. Tastey, fresh, and delicious! I have no idea how they've held up or what they'd cost now, but I would be willing to adventure down there in a second to recreate the past!
