Glad my sarcasm amused you. Seriously, why do you keep pushing this place? Do you get like a toaster or an itunes gift card for every sucker you lure here?

So I got to announce this. So I went yesterday to see the 39 Steps with a friend. I went to this thread for suggestions for dinner beforehand. Out of six she chose Ipanema of all places! I got to admit it was pretty good. She's not an adventurous eater and it was her first time eating Brazilian food. However, she really liked her dish. I got the monkfish, and it was a little overcooked (I just think that's the way it is done?). But the flavor in the sauce was fantastic. That with unlimited rice and beans and excellent service made it a good choice. I know Adam has been pushing this place for years, but I got to go with his rec. It's definitely worth the try even though it's a bit pricey. Thanks, Adam. Also, 39 Steps was hilarious.

He did two shows yesterday and was way too tired to do much. :)

He was incredibly sweet, yes.

So you had Xie Xie for dinner and Jude for dessert :-P

I met him at a gala event, he's a pretty nice guy overall...but not his publisher, geez

Okay, we went to Xie Xie, which does NOT have hot countergirls or didn't while we were there (though a very cute cook/chef? took my dessert order...).

And I got to meet Jude Law :)

ETA: the cute guy was Angelo Sosa. Geez. Since when did they start making chefs like that instead of the fat guy build. Damn.

I got sick from Becco... and if you want to pull the Italian-American card, my boyfriend hated Becco too (and we went separately, unknown to the other person). :P

You guys are throwing too many places at me... I've got too many to pick from now! :P

Becco is the only italian restaurant I've ever liked (being italian-american with off-the-boat cooks in the family, I can be a bit picky about it).

It might be somewhat touristy, but Becco is pretty solid. The $25 pasta deal is a steal if you can handle the carb overload (might not be wise pre-theater... you'd pass out within the first hour).

Riposo 46 is also pretty decent for a nosh. Their flat breads pair well with the wines.

Tips on Xie Xie, if you like pork with a sweet bbq flavor -go with that one. I liked it but the winner for me surprisingly was the beef. It reminded me of the Uber-tender meat you get in a stew you cook for 10 hours, in a nice gravy made of the drippings. Now that I've raised it up so much, you'll probably not like it as much. Isn't that the way it always goes? :-D

Thanks guys! If it isn't crowded, I might try to hit up Xie Xie (it's right there, too, right?) for some eye candy for my buddy. lol. I can't imagine he will be too happy when he finds out we're watching Hamlet.

I would do Sapporo or Hagi right next door (or down)(http://www.yelp.com/biz/sake-bar-hagi-new-york). Izakayas are the best because you can order how much food you want exactly. Good drinks and a social atmosphere really helps too.
