Right now, it's Citi's Double Shakeburger and Five Guys. Hopefully I'll get to run into other tasty burgers soon.

Random update: I had the burger at Donovan's, which was actually quite good - the meat was seasoned nicely(which is a big issue I find at some of these places that are all about toppings). But the fries, what's up with those crapsticks? At my dining companion's insistence (he'd been there before), we also got wings, and he got soup (on a really muggy disgusting day, no less, but he said it was THAT good?).

I didn't manage to get the clams... Are they worth a trip back? (It's not that far from me, to be honest, though it's not near anywhere else I'd need or want to go.)

win, you can't even compare five guys to city burger. I'd take five guys over the regular city burger, but the black label is a completely different animal. It really doesn't taste like any "normal" burger. I'd love to try those other places you mentioned but they are a bit of a walk from 40th btw 7th and 8th where I work.

Like I said, definitely not an every day kind of thing, but its a nice change up and tastes really good

I think the Shake Shack smaller burger is the best burger I've had in NYC. It's my favorite because the burger is cooked with good blend of beef, perfectly cooked and still super juicy. The bun fits the burger and there isn't too much extra on it. The tomato and lettuce are perfect and high quality. It alwsy seems so perfect and fresh that it should be and could be a icon of burger for any burger joint.

@reg - if you like the hockey puck that they serve at City Burger then I would suggest Burger Joint, Carnegie John's (CJ) and even Five Guys for a better burger at half the price (or a quarter for CJ)

had the "black label" at city burger today. Never had anything like it. It was very good, but not sure if I would pay double the price of a regular burger very often, its more of a "once in a while" kind of thing for sure.

Got it medium rare and there was a nice char on it, but it was a bit overcooked inside. I only got cheese on it, but I don't remember really tasting it. What I did taste was something that tasted 1 part hamburger and 3 parts porterhouse. It was nothing like any burger I've had before, though I haven't had anything more expensive than a houston's burger.

Came to about $20 with fries and a drink. Next time I'll skip the fries which were very generic and not very good

In spit eof my better judgment I just had the Kobe Beef Burger at Del Frisco's for the sake of novelty. If it was Kobe Beef, it was certainly a waste of it.

Tried city burger today. It was good, not great. Meat was very similar to shake shack(I think I might have read they use the same kind?) but the burger wasn't as good overall, and I've only had a shack burger at citi field. It was slightly bigger than shack though. I still need to try the black label burger.
