Last week I was looking for a new place to try on LI and remembered a new(?) restaurant in Hempstead called Loli's Soul Food. The food was OUTSTANDING! I got the beef ribs with sweet potato's and stewed okra. The ribs were 1 large bone with a lot of meet on it and in the plate. It was super tender, a little sweet, a little fatty, and delicious. The sweet potato was sliced baked with cinnamon. It had perfect texture and sweetness. The okra was good too. It cost around $6 even though the menu said $12.

I highly recommend this place and can't wait to visit again.

My fiancée and I are going to be spending the day in Manhattan for our anniversary and we'll be going to the Museum of Natural History in the afternoon. We had discussed lunch and my suggestion was Shake Shack. She was OK with this, but would like something a bit more "interesting" than burgers and fries.

We live in and she works in Westchester, so when she's in Manhattan she likes to eat at places that she normally doesn't have access to. For example, she loves ramen and likes going to Ippudo when we're in Manhattan together.

Any lunch suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So I saw this site on 89th and Broke:
http://www.tenka.com/web/creative/redeemer-107555/18044.htm

I haven't tried it myself since I'm not a big fan of using my FB account to sign into things, but it might be worth trying out.

You'll need a smart phone. Here's what's listed on their Free Food Week (Don't you love the sound of that?)

- 2 Free Cookies/Brownies from Insomnia Cookies
- Free Hot Dog & Tropical Drink from Mike's Papaya
- Free any Topping Pizza & Drink from Two Boots
- Free Large Mud Coffee from Mud truck
- Free Falafel & Drink from Mamoun's Falafel
- Free Reg. Cone & 1 Special Sauce from Pommes Frites

By the way, it looks like this company/group just started. I don't know how sustainable this is, so I think if you want to try getting it, the sooner the better

So here I am walking to a meeting when I pass by a very bright awning that immediately caught my eye... I walk into a little hidden gem -- I swear!! The selection of salads, sandwiches, smoothies (mostly Vegan), and fresh PRESSED JUICES was amazing!! The staff was nice, and my lunch was DELICIOUS! How isn't this place the talk of the town - or at least Chelsea!?

Hey fellow foodies!

I've got a rather odd request (because this place may not exist).. But has anyone ever come aross a dessert lounge in NYC??

I'm celebrating my birthday October 1st, and would love to chill out for a friday happy hour-style lounge that has a great selection of desserts (and liquor, of course) ;)

Does such a heavenly place exist???
