Yeah, McCormacks burgers are good and hearty. I don't really get them often, but I've had them. Usually I'm there latenight (on weekends especially) and we order out food if we're hungry since the kitchen is closed--or I just wait until the walk home and grab some cartfood from the 28th + Mad cart. Sadly, one of my main bartenders left 2 weeks ago, and they have a new crew. Only 1 of my bartenders is left...

I am not trying to hype the line. I am just saying I had 5 min to grab lunch and get back at my desk. It wasn't an insane line, just filled with people inside, and about 10ppl outside. I went to NY Burger Co. instead for the thanksgiving turkey burger. My review: Potential greater than effort, but still good.

pigiron: there's a nymag (i think) article about that dude. He lost an eye in jail, so you notice his Sandy Duncan in person. It is a sight to behold.

Sorry Steve I actually didn't even read the cross-avenue for this post. Midtown is all the damn same to me honestly. I would imagine if I worked at 34th and 8th, and I wanted something yummy to eat, walking 5 avenues would not stop me.

...it being 5 degrees, however, just might.

I work out at the NYSC above In-N-Fresh (or whatever). I'll be there in about an hour, so I can report on the activity level. I won't be patronizing them anytime soon however. The whole idea of this place is based on ripping off someone else's business, and that's a huge turnoff to me.

Wicked: please don't tell people to suck it, you sound like an idiot. While I am convinced that you probably don't have a financial interest in this knock-off joint, making shilling posts for a place that had not yet opened is ridiculous, and you're going to get called out on it everytime.

That being said, what is the deal with that shirtless bodybuilder doofus that marches up and down E23? I see he now has a website devoted to him. Or is that HIS website, pretending to be devoted to him? Whatever he's selling, creeping people out on the street is no way to accomplish that. Yuchhh.

jelly? looks like stretchy sticky tapioca starch to me. We've got a similar dish in Vietnam and sometimes use mungbean paste for the lighter laters. we call it Banh Da Lon which translates to like 'pork skin cake.' it's also flavored with pandanus and coconut so maybe you'll like it as an alternative? vietnamese sandwich shops in chinatown would likely stock these

I hit this haven of turkish meats last night for my birthday, but I am posting b/c they actually have a lunch special--10.95 for an appetizer plus an entre! I know it's .95 over (w/o tax if you get takeout) and it's slightly out of bounds, but their grilled meats were pretty amazing! Great falafal and pickled hot salad as well...and all items were reasonably priced. I actually got the mixed grill for dinner $21, with a falafal and hot pickled salad appetizer. All were pretty amazing! I have leftovers, which I am NOT sharing with Max, my pooch.I think my g/f may be gracious enough to give me her leftovers as well--but I'm not banking on it yet. I'd totally reccomend this place--reasonably cheap (especially the lunch specials) and darn good. Service can be a little slow but I didn't mind

had a mini curry chicken from jerk pan at about 4PM (that sounds dirty because i am)

it was pretty good. not a lot of heat except for one lucky bite that i had. a lot of bones. not something i'd go out of my way to have unless i had a huge craving for some W. Indian.

they ran out of jerk and coco bread.

There's a generic deli on 43rd btw Lex and 3rd that serves korean food. I just want these places to stand out by start serving korean fried chicken like they do at MFC! I mean it can't be that hard to do it if they already have all the marinades and sauces for the other foods, right?
