Nice review, Chris (as always).

So If I understand this you had essential three different meals on three visits? Russian Roulette Lunch.... I like it.

Brilliant marketing scheme, the trick is putting something out of the ordinary in on the first visit (avocado) to bring 'em back again, making a lackluster second offering, now they're scratching their collective head, bring back some components of the original just enough to tease the palate but always leave them pining for more and in search of the elusive "first time".

wslee - I accept your nomination and will be proud to represent your party in the next round of elections.

chris6sigma - Adel's is off my beaten path, but I went to check it out today. Definitely a contender, but I'll save my comments for a future post.

Yvo - Yeah, I've seen that XPL cart around and Michael's rides high on my list.

Cosi - I'ma keep my eyes peeled next time I take a wander down Wall St.

hungry - You might be onto something there...

@yvo- hmm i think we're talking about two different carts? Because I went to Doppio too and I didn't see him on my way over. I'm talking about the guy on the SW corner of Broad and Beaver, the same block that Yip's is on. He usually has like 10 soups, serves with bread and the beef chili's $1 more.

@speater - they were there today when I walked by and went into Cafe Doppio. It's the same cart with the American flag decorated placard around the top. I didn't see the "HOT SOUP" sign but it was the same guy.

Hungry, I was thinking that myself.

Zach said they're working on a downtownlunch sibling of midtownlunch.

I fully expect by summer for there to be a downtownlunchstreetmeatpalooza to counter the midtownlunchstreetmeatpalooza.

Of course to be followed by the WORLD SERIES OF STREETMEAT....
