We don’t normally get excited about healthy lunch, but if it’s FREE… well, that’s a different story. The Sweetery Truck is teaming up with some health care co. (irony much?) to offer free food from a promo truck at different spots all week long, and every day this week from 11:30am to 2:30pm they’ll be on 57th btw. 5+6th giving out free lunchtime sandwiches.

Sweetery Handing Thousands of Freebies Today

Today, Sweetery has two trucks handing out thousands of free goodies around town courtesy of The Weather Channel. Truck #1 is scheduled to be on 7th & 53rd until 9:30am before moving on to 3 other spots in Midtown. Truck #2 plants to be at 42nd near Times Sq at 10:30, and then on 50th btw 6+7th at 2:30. Free Whoopie Pie and Ice Cream Sandwich Alert

The Sweetery Truck has teamed up with VISA to give away free ice cream sandwiches and whoopie pies tomorrow and Wednesday. Just use your Visa card at either of their two trucks and score the freebie. Tomorrow (Tuesday) the branded VISA truck with free ice cream sandwiches will be on 23rd and 5th from 10am to 1pm and on Park btw. 52+53rd between 2 and 4pm; and the truck with free whoopie pies (the original Sweetery Truck) will be on 50th btw. 6+7th from 8am to 4pm. On Wednesday, the free ice cream sandwiches will be on 50th btw. 6+7th from 11am to 2pm, and the whoopie pies will be Downtown. UPDATE: Just got some clarification… to claim your whoopie pie, you have to purchase something from the truck using your VISA card. The ice cream sandwiches are buy one get one free (also with your VISA card, natch.)

Sweetery NYC has teamed up with Collective this week offer free ice cream sandwiches from a special truck. It will be on 50th btw. 8+9th until 2pm, before heading to 33rd btw. 6+7th from 3-6pm. Then on Weds it will be on B’way btw. 52+53rd from 11am-2pm. Freeloaders engage. Sorry, it turns out Sweetery mistakenly put this on their email newsletter. It is not open to the public.

Sweetery Now Selling Melt Bakery Ice Cream Sandwiches

A month or so ago, Sweetery NYC (formerly Street Sweets) begun carrying ice cream sandwiches. This ice cream sandwich expert saw the flavor combinations and knew that the sandwiches were coming from Melt Bakery. If any of you stopped by the Hester Street Fair last summer, you might have stopped by their booth. And even though the weather hasn’t fully turned to wonderful out, it’s always the time for ice cream. Even if that ice cream comes completely frozen and will set you back a pretty penny.

Sweetery NYC doesn’t come to Midtown nearly as often as they used to, but they can be found almost every Wednesday at 52nd and Lexington. Melt Bakery offers quite a few unique flavor combinations and Sweetery is carrying the most current of their rotating menu. I decided to check out the Cinnamax: snickerdoodle cookies with cinnamon ice cream. Due the dry ice packing, the sandwich will be frozen solid when you get it-once it’s 90 out, this won’t be so much of an issue. It took mine about 20 minutes to become edible. Once it’s thawed, the cookie is chewy enough to bite without breaking, while the ice cream survives the dry ice quite well. It’s seriously creamy, and chock full of flavor. Best part is their sandwiches never seem to smush and ooze out, but that might be because I eat them so fast. At $5 each, this might fall under the splurge category, but if you want something more than soft serve in a cone, you should definitely seek these out.

If you’re a fan of the Sweetery NYC truck, you’ll want to check out Tenka this week for a free cupcake. It’s free to have the coupon sent to your phone, but only the first hundred people who take it to the truck score the freebie. Sweetery spent the day downtown, but they should be on 9th Ave. and 59th Street from 4pm to 7:30pm tonight.

The Sweetery Truck (aka Street Sweets) is rolling out one of their “special” co-branded trucks today and tomorrow collecting money for Share Our Strength and giving out free cups of hot chocolate, 3 types of biscotti and candy canes with the Food Network. They’ll be on 7th Ave. and 52nd from until 11am, 42nd btw. 2+3rd from Noon to 2pm, and on Broadway btw. 52+53rd from 3-5pm. On Friday they’ll be in the Flatiron from 10am to 12pm (on 23rd btw. 5+6th), and near Herald Square from 1-3pm (on 33rd btw. 6+7th). Street Sweets Finally Changes Their Name

Remember back in January when Street Sweets announced they’d be changing their name? Well, the day has finally arrived. A winner has been chosen, and the Street Sweets Truck will officially be known known from this day forward as… (drumroll please)… Sweetery NYC. Despite being forced to change their name by a similarly named bakery, they assured us that there would be no change whatsoever to their business and they are committed to “more interesting corporate events and give aways, changing & expanding the offerings that appear [on] our menu, and ultimately expanding our business to include other outlets to distribute our products.” Exciting! They have also changed their Twitter account to @sweeterynyc (although if you were following @streetsweets you don’t have to do anything… you’re still following their account.)
