Our man Jeremiah was on the scene and said “Yes. Yes it was.” And according to this Chick Fil A was scouting locations in NYC (although they admit it probably is a few years away.) Hmmmm. Wonder if people will go for it…

Midtown has hit the jackpot today. According to Twitter Chik-fil-A will be stopping at Pulitzer Fountain (on 5th Ave. btw. 58+59th) sometime after 12pm. And if you missed the People’s Pops giveaway on Weds, you have one last chance to get free pops today at East 41st b/w 3rd and Lex from 12-1:30pm. Freeloaders, you know what to do…

New York Finally Gets Free Chick-Fil-A!

Chick-fil-a has long been high up on the long wishlist of food options that Midtown Lunchers have been clamoring for. With the exception of a sole location in the NYU food court (closed for the summer), the entire city is without the combination of luscious chicken filets wrapped between soft, buttery rolls and topped with a tangy pickle. And if that weren’t bad enough, a couple years ago, the company started making annual trips to our fair city offering their delicious sandwiches for free to the media elites on “Cow Appreciation Day”. It’s so upsetting, we felt the need to issue PSAs warning Lunchers to not get too excited if they saw Chick-fil-a employees wandering around Midtown with giant cases full of southern delights.

Well, Chick Fil A has finally responded to our pain!

Tomorrow is “Cow Appreciation Day” and this year as part of their fairly silly (but effective) ad campaign, they’ll be driving a doubledecker bus around New York handing out 750 free sandwiches between 10am and 1pm. They will be giving location hints on Twitter and checking in on FourSquare for any followers willing to run out of the office as soon as they get the message for some tasty, tasty chicken (apparently at 11am they will definitely be in front of the Natural History Museum, but beyond that nothing has been announced.) It doesn’t say whether or not you’ll have to dress up as a cow to get the free sandwich- but you might want to just in case! [via Eater]

Is Chick-Fil-A Offering Catering in Midtown?

Got this frantic email from Lunch’er Steven today: “Hey Zach, I just saw like 5 people in yellow Chick-Fil-A shirts with those domino’s pizza heat bags filled with food I imagine, go into one of the elevator banks in 30 rock. WTF?! Where could this be coming from?” Well Steven, I’d love to be able to tell you that the only NYC Chick-Fil-A, located in the NYU Weinstein Hall food court, was now doing delivery but it’s nothing that exciting. Midtown Lunch friend Lisa Fain, from the blog Homesick Texan, confirms that Chick-Fil-A was in town today bringing food to various “media outlets”.

This probably has to do with the fact that Chick-Fil-A’s annual dress like a cow and get a free meal promotion is on Friday. TOO BAD THERE ISN’T A LOCATION IN MIDTOWN (hint hint!)

It’s things like this that make me really wish we had a Chick-Fil-A in Midtown: “On Friday, July 11, the Chick-fil-A chain will celebrate its annual Cow Appreciation Day event by offering a free meal to any customer who isn’t “too chicken” to visit any of the chain’s nearly 1,400 participating restaurants fully dressed as a cow.” I wonder if they’re participating at the one in the NYU Food Court.
