UPDATED: Kati Junction is Now Open in the Old Labeleca Space

Not sure how long ago Labeleca Pizza (on 40th & 7th) closed down but Lunch’er “FoodGoesInHere” just checked in with an update on the space…

Thought this was worth sharing. Just this morning I noticed a new place called ‘Kati Junction’ on west 40th between 7th and 8th, right next to Maoz Vegetarian (in the space where Labeleca Pizza used to be) that is currently under construction. The sign is up and there is a ‘grand opening’ banner outside, but no other details about when they will be open. They don’t appear to have any online presence other than an entry in Yellowpages.com, and even that offers no details aside from the address. (Also not to be confused with ‘Kathi Junction’, a mega-franchise in India.)

UPDATE: Apparently Kati Junction is now open.  Check out the menu after the jump…

  • Labeleca closed a few months ago. Not sure why (aside from being on the same block as Siena); they always seemed to have decent traffic.

This place is expensive. Why would we go here if Kati Roll is 1 block away?

  • Just tried ’em. They are a bit pricey, but I was very happy with the food. I got an egg chicken roll and an egg shami roll and they were great, nice and densely rolled. The flavors of the egg, spices, and meat combined well (especially the lamb – yum), there was a nice heat to both rolls, and the paratha was slightly toasted and just the right amount of chewy. Granted, I spent 12 bucks for both rolls, so I’m over the ML limit, but I am FULL.

The bowls looked a little small for 8.50. That’s the actual bowls, I didn’t actually see one ‘finished’ with food in it, so I will reserve judgment.

The space itself is small, just a couple of stools by the window and against the wall (remember Labeleca), which also makes it FREEZING any time the door opens. So until we thaw out, plan on getting yours to go.

tried the food the other day and loved it glad something like this opened in the neighborhood and not have to walk all the way to kati roll company where they charge you $0.25 for the extra sauce.would recommend everybody to try the food.
