Crisp Expands Menu to Include V-Grill Items

Crisp, which is no longer on wheels, announced new menu items recently, adding a “v-grill” menu to their regular swath of falafel offerings. In addition to five kinds of v-grill burgers, they’re offering three varieties of v-grill wraps all priced at $7.95: shwarma (v-grilled strips, hummus. Israeli salad, grilled onions and tahini), kati (v-grilled masala kebobs, greens, grape tomatoes and curry mango coconut sauce), and carne asada (v-grilled steak, greens, corn salsa, grilled peppers, onions, cheddar cheese and chipotle aioli). I suppose this is an attempt to differentiate themselves from Pocketful, but I’m not yet sold that “v-grilled strips” will get me in the door. Anyone been to Crisp lately and try these yet? Let us know how it is in the comments.

there’s another crisp at 32nd and broadway (south side of 32nd). it’s not listed on their site for some reason…

  • I could have sworn that location’s no longer operational – the sign was AWOL from it when I was going that way a few weeks back. Worth a second visual check, just to be sure.

  • um… can anyone explain what the hell “v-grill strips” are? I could be blind here but I can’t find any explanation of what exactly they’re comprised of lol. sort of assuming it’s a falafel-into-fake-meat situation, but I could be wrong.

  • I had the shwarma one today. It was pretty great! The “v-strips” are cubes of seitan — they were similar to Gardein or Monk’s if you’re familiar. There was a good amount of filling, the salsa was crispy but the onions and v-strips were warm, and it survived delivery very well. The laffa was superior to their regular pita, too.

I would consider this a good choice if I wanted something bread-and-hummus-laden but still veggie.
