PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Chris”

Every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week it’s Chris, a coffee obsessed editor who may or may not have a fear of pigeons.

Name: Chris

Age: 28

Occupation: Science and Technology Editor at TheWeek.com

Where in Midtown do you work? 39th St and Sixth Ave.

Favorite Kind of Food: Coffee beans, freshly ground with precision and steeped in hot water.

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Cherry tomatoes or anything oval shaped.

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown:Italian hero with fresh mozz from Park Italian Gourmet ($8; 45th St. and Sixth Ave.) Ma Po Tofu from Cafe China. With Tums. ($9; 37th St. and Madison). Rotisserie chicken w/ rice and beans from 2 Bros Pizza, AKA THE BEST DEAL EVER. ($3; Sixth Ave. and 37th St.). The Mongolian BBQ bar from Pergola ($4 to $9, depending on the weight; 39th St. and Sixth Ave.)

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? The not-so-secret upstairs Cafe Zaiya across the street from Bryant Park. On Sixth Ave. btw. 40+41st. Never crowded. Always something interesting to look at.

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Chinatown. Manhattan. Purely for the breadth of cheap options.

Anything you’d like to ask the midtown lunch readers? Best outdoor spot to eat lunch (when it’s nice) that’s, relatively speaking, pigeon free? Asking for a bird-averse friend who isn’t me.

Got an answer for Chris? Put it in the comments. Want to be next week’s Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate)? Email editor@midtownlunch.com.
