Certe’s October Sandwich is A Pair of Mighty Fine Balls

I have no doubt that this review is going to be laden with double entendres. And if I don’t point them out as we go, I’m sure all our commenters will. The snickers can start with the name of Certé’s October sandwich, Two Balls. It’s actually two sandwiches for the price of one. You get a parmesan meatball slider and a spinach knish meatball slider. The word “slider” had me concerned that I wouldn’t get my fill of balls. I was anticipating two small bites, but I should have known better.

Certé has yet to let me down. I think it’s safe to say that these are practically full sized sandwiches.

The first has an Italian-feel to it with two herb-laced meatballs on a big soft, chewy bun. There was plenty of tangy tomato sauce and chunks of mozzarella cheese covering the balls. I only wish that the cheese was melted a little more, but this was a mighty tasty sandwich.

As if that wasn’t filling enough, there was another smaller slider that sort of represented the Jewish-side of things. A spinach knish was used as the bun and a bigger ball was stuffed inside. This was such an interesting and unusual take on a slider. The meatball was just as tender and the knish added a sweet starchy, richness. Not that this suffered from dryness, but I thought maybe some spicy mustard would have been a nice touch.

The only other thing that surprised me was that instead of chips, Certé included a small container of fruit. At first, I scoffed but after weighing myself down with these balls, I understood. This is another sandwich that continues the Certé tradition of filling us up with some delicious, fun food.  And with these massive balls, you’ll be full and snickering the entire afternoon.
