PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Rose”
Every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week we head down to the Flatiron to find out where Rose, a magazine editor, likes to eat.
Name: Rose
Age: 34
Occupation: Magazine Editor
Where in Midtown do you work? 23rd & 6th
Favorite Kind of Food: Anything with noodles (pasta, ramen, kugel, you name it)
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Anything described as “pungent”
Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Lately I’ve been digging San Rocco on 24th Street. Their prix fixe lunch is a great deal and everything I’ve ever eaten there has been terrific. I especially like their pasta primavera, which is different every time, and the homemade bread is a lovely touch. If I’m feeling cheap and outdoorsy, I’ll get ham and bread from Eataly and eat in Madison Square Park.
“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? My go-to is Rickshaw Dumpling Bar (on 23rd btw. 5+6th), especially the tasty tasty chicken & Thai Basil dumplings. If I have a cold, a bowl of their peppery clear noodle soup clears it right up. Plus one of the cooks sometimes sneaks me an extra chocolate soup dumpling.
Places you have discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? I’m pretty sure I learned about Kelvin Slush through Midtown Lunch, and I am humbly grateful. Any day the Kelvin Slush truck is within walking distance is a good day; make mine ginger with raspberry. (Maybe someday they’ll have pear and pomegranate seeds again. Ginger-pear-pomegranate is the slush of my dreams.)
If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Singapore for the hawker centers: amazing cheap stir-fried noodles with pork and egg and scallion and whatever else is handy, and the humid air so thick with grease you can barely breathe.
Anything you’d like to ask the midtown lunch readers? What’s the best vegan lunch in midtown, aside from the fabled Vegan Lunch Truck? I’m trying to eat less meat and dairy, so I’d love suggestions for awesome veganity.
Got an answer for Rose? Put it in the comments. Want to be next week’s Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate)? Email editor@midtownlunch.com.

I think Zach is just baiting the Commenters with this one. No way “Rose” is real.
