BV’s Burger Rocks Their Filet Mignon Chili

While waiting for for my food at BV’s Burger last month, a non-burger menu item caught my eye. Filet Mignon Chili for $6.00. Well, hello! That’s a sexy enough sounding dish to make me begin regretting my burger order. But, in the end, I figured it best to try the namesake item on the menu before branching out.

The other day I returned for some chili goodness, and while the burgers were good … this might be better!

This is good chili, folks.

First of all, it smells delish when you lift the top off the soup container, and the color is a vibrant reddish brown. The texture is hearty, with lots of meat, some kidney beans, onion and some kind of green pepper. In a dish that can look like mush, I especially appreciate that there are identifiable ingredients.

At first taste, the tomatoes really come through with their sweetness and are extremely flavorful. Then, there’s definitely a welcome bit of heat in the back of my throat, but it’s not overpowering. The chili’s thick consistency made for an extremely satisfying lunch.

As the weather continues to get colder, this will definitely be a regular item in my lunch repertoire.
