PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Jeremy”

Every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week it’s Jeremy, the CEO of Dinevore- a website that lets you recommend restaurants (and keep lists of places you want to try.)

Name: Jeremy

Age: 27

Occupation: I’m the Founder & CEO of Dinevore. We’re a platform for making and sharing restaurant recommendations.

Where in Midtown do you Work?: Most days I work out of General Assembly, an awesome coworking space in Flatiron. I used to work in Times Square.

Favorite Kind of Food: If it’s been cooked with love, I’ll probably like it.

Least Favorite Kind of Food: I’m really not a fan of cottage cheese.

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Pernil, octopus salad or a Cuban sandwich with moros and maduros at Margon (on 46th btw. 6+7th), Shack Burger at Shake Shack (on 44th & 8th), soup and sandwich lunch deal at Gramercy Tavern, pad kee mao at Rhong Tiam Express (on 21st btw. Park+B’way).

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? I can’t eat at Rhong Tiam Express enough. I usually get Pad Kee Mao with chicken (it’s called Drunk Man Noodle on the menu). I’m obsessed with this place for a couple of reasons. First, they don’t hold back when it comes to the level of spiciness. Their default is probably 2x what most people can take. Second, they’re one of only a few places I’ve been to in NY that can consistently impart wok hei.

Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? I love finding great food in unexpected places, and Midtown Lunch has clued me in to a couple of lunch spots like that. My favorites have been El Sabroso (on 37th btw. 7+8th) and El Rincon del Sabor (on 47th btw. 5+6th).

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? I’m a huge fan of street food, especially for lunch, and George Town, the capital of the state of Penang in Malaysia, sounds like a street eats paradise.

Anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? If you were going to make a list of your favorite lunches on Dinevore what would be on it?

Got an answer for Rich? Put it in the comments. And, as always, if you want to be next week’s Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate) email editor@midtownlunch.com.
