Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? La Beleca; Kwik Meal; Elyssa on 9th Ave. (when it was open it was the best falafel in midtown); Bon Chon (on 38th btw. 7+8th); Taim Mobile; Lazzara’s (on 38th btw. 7+8th); Hide Chan Ramen (on 52nd btw. 2+3rd) and many others

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Naples, Italy for classic homemade style Italian food and real pizza! To be able to enjoy the same meals my ancestors did on a daily basis.

  • chewing takes too much work. all of my food choices are of the non-chew variety.

  • What’s your favorite place to eat dinner?
In the spend but not splurge category (for non-midtown), I love Perilla, Apiary, and Traif. But Eleven Madison Park and Momofuku Ko were probably the best dinners i’ve in NYC.

For Midtown dinners, Pure Thai Shophouse, Yakitori Totto, Danji and Marea (for a slight splurge) are my go-tos.

What restaurants in NYC are on your bucket list?
    Per Se for sure

  • FREAK OF THE WEEK

(The ‘surprised no one has ripped on the fact that this is another food blogger’ edition)

    • The assumption these days is every freak has a blog to flog so we no longer call attention to it lest someone actually click the link

  • I actually like her site! Good pics.

Per Se should be on everyone’s bucket list. It was by far the most amazing meal I’ve ever had. Daniel, Bouley, and Adour are up there too. The next two on my list are La Grenouille and WD-50.

As for favortie places: for wallet freindly, Da Andrea is amazing. Also, La Gioconda (midtown east), Otto, & Tout Va Bien (midtown east)

For splurges, I like Babbo, Keens for steak, and Gari 46 for sushi.

Well I’d rather be excused of trying to promote my own blog instead of swallowing. Don’t Hate.

I have been to Per Se and really wasn’t that impressed. I have been to other restaurants and been more impressed at the same price level (The Modern, Le Bernardin). Don’t get me wrong it was really good and a cool experience I just think it’s over rated. I wasn’t really impressed with WD-50 either. The food was gimmicky and didn’t taste all that good.

Thanks for the other recos I will have to check out La Gioconda and Tout Va Bien. Otto is one of my fav economical spots. Gari is also a fav for classic sushi.

Marea and Eleven Madison Park are both high on my bucket list as well.
