Flatiron Extra: News and Notes
It’s been a little while since we’ve caught our Flatiron Lunch readers up on the news and openings in the area. With spring approaching and announcements of Schnipper’s bringing the burger wars directly to the original Shake Shack, you know we’ve got some interesting things coming soon. See what’s in store after the jump.
First up, Bistro Truck has announced that next Tuesday, Groupon will be offering a 50% off special on $10 credits to the truck. Only one deal will be available per person but allegedly there’s no expiration date (we plan on reading the fine print, because that doesn’t sound quite right).

Just outside of our usual Flatiron Lunch boundaries, Joe: The Art of Coffee branches on 9th Avenue in Chelsea and in Union Square is now serving Robicelli’s, the 2010 Readers Poll Best Cupcakes winner. Deliveries are currently coming in two times a week with an eye to upping that to three further down the line. Hopefully with that sort of regular supply, there won’t be any of the frozen cupcake nonsense we’ve been hearing about at Lily O’Brien’s.
Finally, and this may be old news to some, but I only just noticed the 2 Bros. Pizza on 25th Street and 6th Avenue the other day. That’s the second 2 Bros. in Flatiron Lunch bounds – the other is down on 6th Avenue near 17th Street.

Grub Street reports that a new southern restaurant called Gravy will be opening up this spring. Madison Square Park News says it could be as soon as next month. No word just yet on whether prices will be in the ML price range.
