Schnitzel & Things is Free All Week Long

Just spotted this over on Wined and Dined… The Schnitzel & Things Truck has been co-opted by Austrian Airlines this week and they’ll be giving away free food all week long.  The good news is they’ll be in Midtown practically every single day this week (Flatiron managed to steal one day), giving away free bites of schnitzel from 11am until 3pm (or when supplies run out).  What’s that?  You were hoping for a filling meal from Schnitzel & Things Truck this week, and free samples aren’t going to cut it?   Quit your whining.  It’s just one week… and everything is FREE!

Check out the full schedule after the jump.

  • EVERYTHING is free?? Or they just giving away samples. I’m thinking puny samples. Eh, whatever… IT’S FREE!!

    • Ahh, so you’re the “you” in this post.

      • Not really. I don’t eat Schnitzel & Things for lunch often. Only had it twice before. Plus it’s not really a free full meal and would totally cut into my lunch-time to wait on their line with everybody else.

Have fun to those willing to wait for the samples. And awesome to those who didn’t have to wait on any line during non-peak times.

  • waiting in the cold rain for free food. pass.

  • that sign is misleading. “Vienna famous dish Weiner Schnitzel makes a guest appearance one week only”? Sure its free for a week, but the truck is still here, and has been here for a couple of years now.

  • Ah, a tasty bite of schnitzel courtesy of Austrian Airlines… not quite the same as when I enjoyed a schweinshaxe in a Stuka over Belgium, but close enough

  • Staying away form this shit-show. No thanks.

The size is about 2″ x 2″ with a little scoop of potato salad, a lemon wedge and a little bit of dipping sauce. They’re closer to 5th (in front of HSBC), and there’s no line right now.

I went around the time bwang did. Only 4 people ahead of me, but moved quick. Although the food came in a plastic container (not very environmental btw), it’s not a lot of food, but hey, it’s free!

  • stopped by at 2:20 with one person ahead of me. short wait of a few minutes as they were packaging. made for a nice schnitzy appetizer before i went to crisp. and that dipping sauce had a nice kick.

  • There were about 4 or 5 people lined up on Park at 27th today, so I had to wait a few minutes. 2 small pieces of schnitzel with accompaniments as bwang described. Tasty.
