Could be a language barrier issue. I remember last year’s winners had an interpretor (I think his name was Cesar) who was also the Exec Director of Red Hook Food Vendors committee. I’m sure he played a large role in getting them enough votes to be represented at the Vendy’s.

I know it’s all just my speculation but I honestly don’t think they would have been so inclined to attend without his coaxing and reassurance.
