Yummy Yummy Falafel Bar is Now Open

For those of you who haven’t had lunch yet, Lunch’er “Nicholas” (aka “hightemp”) just let us know that the certified kosher Yummy Yummy Falafel Bar (on Lex btw. 55+56th) is now open for business… and a Yummy Yummy Deluxe with falafel, hummus, eggplant and cube salad is $6.99, and there is a free salad bar to add more fixins to your sandwich.

  • How soon I’m forgotten…guess its my lack of camera…I’m the “Nicholas” in question ;-)

  • Cube salad?

I tried it today for the first time, i thought it was EXCELLENT. It’s way way way better than any of the trucks in the area, the food tastes like it’s great quality, clean, and the price is really fair.

    love it.

  • I went there today and had the falafel deluxe and sweet potato fries. This place is mediocre for a mediocre place. The Falafel deluxe comes with fried eggplant. The eggplant was way over salted. The falafel balls were packed tight and fully cooked. They had absolutely no crisp. They were mostly flavorless. The toppings bar has some items, but lacks the depth of Maoz.

They charge $3.50 for a half a bag of mushy sweet potato fries. That’s a rip. This place isn’t even close to the quality of Crisp or Maoz. There are a lot better places to go to lunch in that part of town.

    • I didn’t find the eggplant over salted at all and my falafel were very crisp but they were just out of the fryer.

Where do you recommend for falafel in the same general area? (Crisp is 12 blocks to the south which is too far for me and the only Maoz I know is in Union Square)

      • You’re right that Crisp and Maoz are too far. There is a Maoz on 7th and 38th (or so).

There are also some good falafel options in the Diamond District area. But if I had to choose between Yummy and something else, I’d go for something else.
