That Turkish place is becoming a Maoz or however you spell it. Tried to go to Baba Ghanouge the day after this article was written. It had been Zacked. There are only 3 tables or so in there and they were swamped.

There was a Turkish place on the SW corner of 40th and 9th that had good shawarma. Haven’t been in quite a while so I can’t promise it’s still there.

The lamb shawarma (the word has finally *made it* and is in the dictioanry: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090709/ap_on_re_us/us_new_dictionary_words) looks like the lung from an anti-smoking ad. Yet still delicious.

Adam, pick-a-pita is just south of port authority but I like their spicy chicken shwarma, they never had lamb though despite it being on their menu.

Adam – Bread & Olives has some of the driest, least flavorful shawarma anywhere, but people actually line up and pay money for it!
