“Steak & Egg” Makes Its Triumphant Return to Goodburger!

The rumor I reported last week has now been confirmed via Twitter, and re-confirmed on their website:  The “Steak and Egg” burger has been restored to the menu at all Goodburger locations starting today.  When I originally launched the Midtown Lunch Sandwich Challenge back in January, I told restaurants they could pretty much do whatever they wanted… but I did have a few special requests.  First was that somebody do a grease truck sandwich, and second was that Goodburger bring back their formerly breakfast only “Steak & Egg” burger, featuring a burger topped with home fries and a fried egg.  See, Goodburger used to serve breakfast- but when they stopped doing that, the “Steak & Egg” went away.

Nobody has answered the call for a grease truck sandwich- but Goodburger has finally listened to the pleading from the Midtown Lunchers, and brought back the “Steak & Egg”!  Do you want to see it? (Of course you do…)

Steak and egg porn is after the jump…

Goodburger's Breakfast Sandwich

Sadly the price has gone up $1 to $6.99 but whatever! It’s back. I’m not going to ruin this glorious day by complaining about price…

  • Never thought I’d be eating a steak n’ egg burger.

  • I’m gonna make a home version of this bad boy today: A fat, juicy Bubba Burger (these are really tasty on the griddle!) with a soft-cooked egg (the runny yolk in the picture here is great) and a big slice of smoked gouda or cheddar cheese. Maybe throw a few sauteed onions on top too. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • so. hungry. can’t. type.

  • It always makes me think of that Simpson’s Episode where Homer buys the subliminal weight loss tape? He sees this commercial for the “Good Morning Burger”…

So, here is the exact line (Read in that TV Announcer’s voice) and… the recipe for same. (Bless you Simpson’s Archive!)

We take eighteen ounces of sizzling ground beef, and soak it in rich, creamery butter, then we top it off with bacon, ham, and a fried egg. We call it the Good Morning Burger.

    The Good Morning Burger

    ingredients:
    18oz ground beef patty
6-8 tbl. of rich creamy butter
    8 stripes of bacon
    4 slices of ham
    3 fried eggs
    instructions:
sizzle the ground beef, bacon, ham, and eggs on the grill.
place the beef on a bun, the top with bacon, ham and eggs.
    soak in butter.
    makes 1 wake up serving

  • If it has butter on it, rudy will eat it.

  • Eat it?

    Id Fuck it.

  • @Rudy. Then you must have been banned from all butter sculptures at state fairs across the U.S.

  • That yolk does look appetizing … and lubricating

  • I love those burgers. We had this burger back in college that started my crave: the BO Burger..Bacon, Fried Onions, Fried Egg, White American Cheese….drool

  • It hasn’t shown up on seamless web yet! :(
    someone make this happen.

  • oh man, look at that egg drip down!

  • Zach, I don’t know whether you’re the greatest public servant of all time or a menace who must be stopped!

  • I try to visit Goodburger at least once a week. I went to the one on Madison @54th today. They have a sign up saying it’s back and that it’s been entered in the “midtown lunch sandwich challenge.” They did the same funny thing tha Crisp did. “Midtown Lunch” is in a very light font and it’s a little hard to see.

Anyway, I tried the steak and egg. It’s a winner!

I went to the 45th st location a couple days ago and was very dissapointed. First, I didn’t see any mention of the steak and egg burger anywhere, so I didn’t order it. Big mistake. The regular burger with the works was amazingly dissapointing. It was cooked alright, but the meat looked and tasted overworked and bland. The toppings were not good either. The ketchup/mayo/mustard mix + the vegetables produced a very sweet taste that wasn’t pleasant. The parts without the mixture were dry and plain.

The burger was small too. The fries were ok, but not good. And the combo was a bit over $12. I wish there was a five guys closer. City burger is much much better than goodburger which is nearby. I’ll probably go back to try the steak and egg burger, I have a feeling it might be better than the normal burger. Shouldn’t be too hard…
