Free Food Alert: New Pret Means Free Sandwiches on Friday

DSC09827

Another Pret is opening up on 3rd Ave btw. 47+48th and they’re doing another one of those free sandwich days. It’s a little tricky though, so you may want to pay attention… On Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. they’ll be giving out flyers for a free Pret goodie bag, which can be redeemed after 12:15 p.m.  At previous openings the goodie bag contained half a sandwich, a bag of popcorn, a brownie, and a coupon for a free cup of coffee. Not too shabby. If they haven’t given out all the goodie bags by around 1:30, they may start to give out more flyers at the door- so if you don’t manage to score a flyer on Friday morning, you can still try to snag your free food sans flyer.  Their main goal is letting people know the store is open, so people have been successful at getting free food without a flyer in the past, but there are no guarantees.   Good luck freeloaders!

  • Thanks for the tip, Zach! Good to know about the flyer situation. I wonder how crazy the lunch rush is going to be there tomorrow…

  • This is totally off topic… but I just had a craving for Buffalo wings and wondered if anyone had any good suggestions?

  • to Lou — the best I’ve had in the city were at Hooter’s (and those wings were the only reason I’ve ever been there). The only one I know of is on 56th Street, just east of Broadway.

  • Thanks for the feed back… I don’t know if maybe I’ve overlooked it, or I’m correct when I say there doesn’t seem to be much info about buffalo wings around mid town… did i miss that blog? or is there really nothing worth nothing in midtown?

  • Atomic Wings over on 9th & 41

If a long walk for average quality excites you

  • Lou: Atomic Wings has a store on 39th & 9th.

  • Lou: Acme downtown in the city has awesome wings and a great selection of hot sauces for every taste. The fried okra is amazing as well! Give it a shot. You won’t regret it.

  • I just came from walking by this as I work around the corner. The line is so long, it’s not even funny. I decided not to wait. Guess I won’t do anything for a free lunch, lol

  • Thanks so much for the post, Zach! I got *2* free lunches from Pret today. Two employees were handing out flyers this morning and during the event. They weren’t stingy with the flyers, surprisingly.

At 12:10pm, I got in line midway down the block of 48th Street and got my sandwich in 15 minutes. From where I was, it moved quite quickly and the yummy chicken and avacado sandwich, organic popcorn and mini brownie were worth the painless wait.

I waited in line longer at Cafe Zest’s 50% event and had a harder time navigating the chaos inside. But damn, that food was worth the hassle.

    Did anyone else try this?

    Keep up the good work!

  • Super. It took almost a day to find this info. Thanks! Good job. :)
