This place is terrible. This is not authentic Cuban food and I can name a ton of other places that make a better Cubano. This is designed for people who are not Hispanic

Sophie’s is excellent. I used to frequent the one on Chambers back in my downtown lunch days. (Well, I’d go from time to time, on days when I resisted the siren call of Pakistan Tea House.)

Sandwiches are great. Sweet plaintains. Ahhhhh! Everything is great.

I just tried Sophie’s on 40th between 7th and 8th for the first time today. Instead of the fried pork, I got the above-pictured sandwich with pulled pork, and it was delicious! Thanks for the tip, Zach!

i’ve had this sandwich and both locations and they are both divine. that being said, if you can make it to tina’s (the other location) i find the sandwiches there to be more flavorful.

I got that sandwich from Tina’s a few weeks ago, it was so good I ate all of it, and then was so sleepy I thought I’d pass out! I think I also remember being intensely thirsty afterwards. Mildly embarassing my first week at a new job, but completely worth it.
