It is something of a hidden secret, and all of the soups I've had there are superb (they do offer samples, so if you're not sure what soup you want they are very nice about giving you samples). Their lentil is actually really flavorful and delicious (hard to believe, I know), and the Butternut Squash and Apple is so fragrant it makes my coworkers jealous. I can't for sure vouch that they make their soups from scratch, but they definitely taste like it. They also started serving this pinkberry-esque plain frozen yogurt this past fall that will be great in the warmer months.... I'm not the biggest fan of overpriced chain soups either (I'm looking at you, Hale and Hearty...), but Cosi's Tomato Basil soup is excellent. New Star Cafe on 7th between 39th and 40th also does a decent Korean soft tofu soup. The tomato, basil and mozzarella soup at Fashion Soup is my personal fave.

And, my go-to for soups on my block--Devon & Blakely gets their soups from the Daily Soup, and they are really good.
