As a D.C. resident, I really want Five Guys to be good. It’s fine, but “good” would be a stretch.

I like Five Guys a lot more than Burger Joint. I’ve never really understood the appeal of Burger Joint — you wait 30+ minutes for a very mediocre burger. Shake Shack kills it, and Five Guys will too when it shows up.

Who says there won’t be ginormous lines at Five Guys Midtown? Also, I think Burger Joint and Five Guys are about the same. Both have good burgers. Neither one will blow your mind. I always laugh when Burger Joint gets named one of the top 2 or 3 burger places in Manhattan. Take away the mystique and hiddenness, focus only on the food, and you are basically looking at Five Guys.

Five Guys blows away GoodBurger. It isn’t as good as Burger Joint, but if I had a choice between waiting in line for 45 minutes at Burger Joint or getting in and out of Five Guys, I might have to choose Five Guys.

As another former DC resident I sayeth: Five Guys is good eatin. But in DC, half the appeal of Five Guys is the price, half is the taste, and the other half is the dive-itude.
It’ll be interesting to see how they price their menu in Midtown and if it will be a dive.

I always thought Five Guys was slightly overrated in DC, but they are certainly welcome in Midtown! At least until Royale decides to franchise.

As a former DC resident, I can attest to the awesomeness of Five Guys. The regular burger is 2, count ‘em, 2 patties and all the condiments are free! (except for bacon and cheese) Throw in some tasty fries and free peanuts while you wait for that burger to be cooked and one is all set for lunch.

The owner of the College Point location mentioned that this one would be opening, soon to be followed by one in the Village.

Also: I wouldn’t necessarily say “without losing any of the juiciness.” It’s more like enough juiciness is left behind to leave them tasty. They could definitely be juicier.
