Just tried to have lunch at Sophie’s 40th St. It’s closed–as in, for good (though the “Now Open!” banner is still hanging high). Just FYI.

My cubano was pretty decent – hot and nicely pressed but not crispy, melted cheese, tasty (but cheap) pork. Next time I will try to get a ton of that green hot sauce on the sandwich and ask for extra pickles.

How wierd and depressing is that half-finished mall they’re in on 3rd?

Went to Sophie’s, first time ever, to get a Cuban sandwich. All I got was IGNORED for a long time.

I stood there like an idiot where I was told to, finally went back to the other line to ask if I was standing in the right place, and when I returned to my spot, there’s suddenly about 10 people in line ahead of me, and just one guy making sandwiches.

Wasted my lunch hour, had to get back to the office. Too bad for Sophie’s… They just lost a potential more-than-twice-a-week customer.

Next on my list to try is Margon. Let’s hope they’re a llittle more on the ball!
