I went to Pret today (54th & Park) with my card which did not have enough punches for a free sandwich. The lady behind the counter was not aware of the exchange described above. She first told me that I could take my card and a receipt from today's purchase to the Rockefeller Center Pret to have it punched. Apparently that Pret is continuting the card program for a few months -- the Pret employee thought that they would stop in November. I did end up with a free salad (not a sandwich in this case) in exhcange for my card after she talked with her manager.

I believe they did not start it until just a year or two ago, well after Pret opened most of its NYC stores. It's too bad that they're stopping this program. It's easier to pay $7 for a sandwich when you know it's putting you 10% closer to a free sandwich.

I'm sure I saw Pret-a-manger when I was in London, so I guess they must be a multi-national sandwich bar. I wonder if you can cash in your free sandwich card in other countries?
